Ontario Parks developed Craigleith Provincial Park in 1967. It is a recreation-class Provincial Park that was established to aid in the preservation of a historic oil shale beach. Craigleith Provincial Park is a tiny park on the southern shores of Georgian Bay, located between Collingwood and Thornbury (10 km west of Collingwood).
What You’ll Like:
Along one of the highest points of the Niagara Escarpment, this park contains geological features related to glacial and post-glacial activities. Meltwater channels, moraines, and talus slopes are some of the features found here. In the park, there are around 400 different species of vascular plants.
Activities and Facilities in the Park: Visitors can enjoy hiking, nature appreciation, fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling on official OFSC paths, despite the park’s lack of facilities and the fact that camping is not permitted. The park is bisected by the Bruce Trail. The Niagara Escarpment Parks and the Niagara Biosphere Reserve both include Pretty River Valley. Natural features are sensitive and easily harmed, so visitors are asked to respect them.
83 kilometres southeast of Owen Sound, on the Niagara Escarpment. Take County Road 2 to County Road 31 from Highway 4 and travel 10 kilometres. To the west, there is a park.
Pretty River Valley Provincial Park Reviews
Hiking on this peaceful trail is magical. a ten out of ten! Upstream, follow the small river while listening to the murmuring brook! Because parking is on the highway and there isn’t much signage, the entrances may be easy to miss, therefore I’ve included images of them! The trail is mostly shaded by the trees. Bug spray could come in handy.
A fantastic spot for a day trek. There is a long main path as well as numerous minor trails. Beautiful river to walk along, with spectacular views of the surrounding area from the top of the hill.
Simply transporting.
A 20-minute drive from Blue Mountain, this is a stunning hiking spot. It’s a little difficult to find from the road, but once you find the streamside walk, you’ll be taken to a lovely area surrounded by trees and the sound of running water. Continue to walk as far as you can. Each turn is more stunning than the one before it.
It was icy when we were there, but crampons solved the problem. You won’t get very far on the ice without suitable footwear.
A parking lot is located approximately a 5-minute walk from the “entry.” Alternatively, park beside other vehicles on the side of the road.
This location is a little slice of bliss! So much natural splendour, with a little (now) but breathtakingly lovely twisting river as its centrepiece! If you’re in the Collingwood area, this is a must-see!
The name of this location is “Pretty River.” Be a Trillium (indeed, you can see a forest full of them here) in a world full of sunflowers and Tulips, with such magnificent landscapes.
There is no designated parking area, although it is simple to park on the shoulder just outside the park. As soon as you reach the park, you’ll see that it’s the most dense woodland Trek you’ve ever experienced. And it starts off with barren trees with branches hanging out, but as you progress up the trail, it becomes breathtakingly beautiful.
