Northwinds Beach

The most popular beach in The Town of Blue Mountains is Northwinds Beach Park. It is a wonderful alternative for active families because of its vast sandy beach shoreline and onsite non-motorized watercraft rentals.

Northwinds Beach Highlights

There are several shaded picnic tables around the park and beach area, as well as a playground and restrooms.
The Craigleith Heritage Depot Museum and Craigleith Community Centre are both within walking distance of the beach, while Blue Mountain Resort, located off Highway 26, is only a short drive away.

Kayaking, SUP (stand-up paddle boarding), and beach relaxing are also popular activities.
In this part, the Georgian Trail travels next to Highway 26, making for a lovely cycling ride to the ocean. Highway 26 is a busy road, so be cautious and aware of your surroundings. When you approach the Craigleith Heritage Depot, it is recommended that you stop pedalling and walk your bike over the intersection of Highway 26 and Grey County Road 19, then continue to the beach.

Northwind Beach Reviews

Amazingly, if you can’t find a parking spot, The Village At Peaks Bay has another hidden treasure beach. FREE PARKING in a small development that is still under construction. Between the subdivision and the private beach lies the back left corner. ALL BEACHES ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. In Collingwood, there is a little beach. Parking is scarce, but it’s a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the wind. Don’t forget your coffee and bagel. Picnic benches are likewise restricted, although I believe this is sufficient given the park’s capacity. I’m giving it five stars because it’s a fantastic location. However, it fills up quickly, so arrive early. On-site restrooms are available and well-maintained. There are stones as you enter the water, but after a few steps, it’s all sand. The water is clear, and the area is serene. The beach is sandy, and the water is crystal clean. If you’re in the Blue Mountain area, this is a terrific site to visit. There are a number of picnic tables in the shade where you may relax, and the entire area is rather tranquil. It’s also a fantastic spot to see the sunset! If you want to see the fine line between the lake and the sky after sunset, here is the spot to go. I adore the rocks where you can walk on them, albeit they are a little slick, so be cautious. Also, while you can’t watch the sunset from here, you can catch a peek of it as it fades behind the trees. The water is crystal clear and ice cold. This is a site that I strongly suggest. I’ll surely return. The beach is open to the public. Parking is $5 per hour, with a maximum stay of four hours. Pay with an app on the internet. There is a little parking lot, but if you wait long enough, a spot will free up. The beach is properly maintained. Sand that is slightly rough. The view of Georgian Bay is breathtaking.
