Millennium Park offers beautiful views of Nottawasaga Bay, including spectacular views of Collingwood Harbour and the Blue Mountain ski lift in the distance. The Collingwood Millennium Overlook Park is located on the historic Collingwood Harbour’s most northerly point. To the west, the site offers a spectacular view of Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment. On his first visit to Georgian Bay (which is legally part of Lake Huron), Champlain christened it “La Mer Douce.” It stretches for 120 kilometres and is 50 miles broad.
The Niagara Escarpment has been designated as a World Biosphere Reserve, which means it is a globally recognised ecosystem.The Millennium Outlook Park is situated in such a way that visitors may learn about and experience both of these attractions. As a millennium project, this tiny park with the roundabout at the end of Heritage Drive opened on July 1, 2000. The park offers a breathtaking view of Georgian Bay, the Niagara Escarpment, and Wasaga Beach to the west and east, respectively. It’s the ideal spot for kite flying!

Collingwood was formerly known as the Hens and Chickens. This is the charming name for a group of five small, low-lying islands to your left, which culminate in a rocky breakwater reaching out into the bay. The Niagara Escarpment and the Blue Mountain ski resort are just to the left of the Hens and Chickens. The escarpment’s hard limestone has eroded far less than the adjacent shale, indicating the breadth of the old Silurian sea that formed above that limestone 350 million years ago.

Wasaga Beach can be seen in the distance to the right, with Cedar Point and Christian Island to the northeast. Take a look at the compass rose near the water’s edge. Return the way we came back to Huron Street when you’re ready. Turn right onto Sidelaunch Way. At the foot of Hurontario Street, there is a Discovery panel. Millennium Park can also be reserved for special events.
